Student Health Service Eligibility
Northwestern Medicine Student Health Service is here for you during your academic journey. We offer care to eligible students, and you can learn more about your eligibility on this page.
Eligible students may visit us for care throughout the current academic year, September 1 through August 31.
You qualify to receive care from Student Health Service if any of the following apply to you:
When Your Eligibility Starts
This eligibility information applies to new students. Some other special circumstances may apply.
Graduating students who have taken at least one class during the current academic year can continue to see us for care until the August 31 after they graduate.
Eligible students may visit us for care throughout the current academic year, September 1 through August 31.
You qualify to receive care from Student Health Service if any of the following apply to you:
- You are actively enrolled in a degree-seeking program at Northwestern University in a school other than the School of Professional Studies.
- You are a student in the School of Professional Studies who is enrolled in Northwestern University’s Student Health Insurance Program (NU-SHIP).
- You are a visiting scholar covered by Northwestern University’s Cigna plan who is not considered an employee of the university.
- You are a Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary student.
When Your Eligibility Starts
This eligibility information applies to new students. Some other special circumstances may apply.
- New students starting in the summer term will be eligible beginning June 1.
- New students starting in the fall term will be eligible beginning September 1.
Graduating students who have taken at least one class during the current academic year can continue to see us for care until the August 31 after they graduate.
- Students on formal medical leave from the university are still eligible to visit us for care during their leave.
